Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) is a program in which people arrested for some non-violent crimes are directed toward treatment and services instead of jail. The LEAD program in Santa Fe has already successfully served nearly a hundred people. Today we talk to the program’s director, Shelly Moeller; former police captain Jerome Sanchez; case manager Yvette Medina; and mother of a LEAD client, Denise Herrera.
