The Maasai people of Kenya are living in two worlds. The traditional practices, governance, and language are all very much alive. At the same time, they are using cell phones to do things like conserve wildlife, and they are banning obsolete practices like underage marriage and female genital mutilation, and shifting from a purely nomadic lifestyle to a hybrid among livestock-raising, agriculture, and urban living.
